1991 - Missed entire season after fracturing right kneecap at Phoenix (8/17) in third preseason game...placed on Injured Reserve (8/20). 1990 - Started all 10 games played and was third on team with 34 receptions for 549 yards and two TDs...spent six games on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List with an eye injury...had two receptions, including a 27 yard TD at Indianapolis (9/16)...led team wtih 62 receiving yards on three catches vs. NY Jets (9/30)...led team with five catches for a season high 103 yards, including a 35 yard TD vs. Seattle (10/7)...in first game back from the injury, caught six passes for 70 yards at Pittsburgh (12/9). 1989 - Played in all 16 games as a rookie and started the final six...led the team in receiving yardage and was second on the squad with five TD catches...made first start vs. Buffalo (11/9) in place of the injured Stanley Morgan and caught three passes for 53 yards and one TD...caught a TD pass in four consecutive games vs. NY Jets (11/5) through LA Raiders (11/26)...over final seven games, caught 39 passes for 654 yards and three TDs (average of six receptions for 93.4 yards a game)...had four 100 yard receiving games vs. New Orleans on 11/12 vs. Indy (12/3) at Pittsburgh (12/17) and vs. LA Rams (12/24)...first TD came on second NFL reception, a 10 yarder vs. Miami (9/17). Drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 1989 draft (16th player selected).

A consensus All-America choice as a senior, he holds virtually every school game, season and career receiving record...during his four years, he caught 203 passes for 3,171 yards and 29 TDs...broke Big Eight Conference record of career catches and surpassed Johnny Rodgers' all-time conference receiving yard mark of 2,479 yards...was a three-time All-Big Eight selection...as a junior had 61 catches for 978 yards and eight TDs to lead conference's receivers in all three categories...had at least 60 receptions in each of last three college seasons...caught at least two passes in last 36 college outings...also played baseball (left-handed pitcher).
