This Week We Celebrate Exercise and Fitness Volunteerism!
For the week of December 4, the Patriots Charitable Foundation will work in cooperation with organizations that promote exercise and fitness as well as the PLAY 60 campaign.
How do exercise and fitness volunteers make an impact?
- Promotes healthy eating habits for children
- Emphasizes a sound mind/body through physical exercise
- Promotes simple ideas and techniques for healthy and inexpensive meal preperation
Congratulations to this week's "Patriots Difference Maker" - Donna Alqassar
Donna Alqassar,Volunteer, Stephen Olney SchoolMrs. Alqassar has been an active participant in all of the exercise and fitness programs at the school Stephen Olney School. As the PTA President Mrs. Alqassar has had a leading role in procuring funds that have been utilized for these programs and has served as chairperson for: Healthy Meals Night, Jump-rope for Fitness, The Wellness Program, and Healthy Snacks/Healthy Body. Mrs. Alqassar was also a major contributor for writing our PLAY 60 grant. Mrs. Alqassar has also been asked to serve as the liaison for the North Providence Wellness Program.
What exercise and fitness volunteer opportunities can I pursue?
- Assist with afterschool walking program at the Stephen Olney School
- Assist with Jump Rope for the Heart telethon at the Stephen Olney School
- Assist with Get off the Couch and move family nightsat the Stephen Olney School
The Patriots Charitable Foundation is proud to work in conjunction with Stephen Olney School for "Exercise & Fitness Volunteerism Week"
- The Stephen Olney School has been selected as the NFL PLAY 60 Super School for New England. One in each of the 32 NFL markets and two non-NFL markets will receive a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 grant for health and wellness programming or equipment and a visit from NFL players.
