Since the inception of Patriots Fan of the Year Award in 1987, the New England Patriots have presented 26 individuals with the Joseph R. Mastrangelo Memorial Trophy, honoring the fan or fans that best represent the spirit of the Patriots, at games or in their communities.
In 2012, three (3) semi-finalists were awarded with two (2) game tickets, two (2) pregame field passes and a $100 ProShop gift card. Each semifinalist was recognized on-field at a select game. Congratulations to:
- David Dyson of West Hartford, CT – 10/7 vs. Denver Broncos
- Mike Garrett of Dayton, Ohio – 11/18 vs. Indianapolis Colts
- Kevin Kelley of Attleboro Falls, MA – 12/30 vs. San Francisco 49ers

2012 New England Patriots Fan of the Year: Kevin Kelley

Master Sergeant Kevin Kelley of the 212th Installation and Engineering Squadron, Air Force, as the 2012 Fan of the Year. Kevin, a native of Foxboro, was deployed to the Middle East in October of 2011, a week after his daughter, Kaitlyn, was born. While serving overseas, he consistently displayed his Patriots pride; decorating a Christmas tree with Patriots paraphernalia. Kevin made his best effort to watch all the Patriots game while skyping with his wife, Rachel and daughter, Kaitlyn.
On December 30th at the Patriots vs Dolphins game, Kevin was presented with the Joseph R. Mastrangelo Memorial Trophy, established by the Mastrangelo family in honor of their father, a truly devoted Patriots fan. Presenting the award were Patriots Chairman & CEO Robert Kraft, Bank of America Massachusetts President Bob Gallery and Emily & Rocco Mastrangelo. Kevin was also awarded the 2012 Fan of the Year jersey along with Season Tickets to the 2013 season.
