Since the inception of the Patriots Fan of Year Award in 1987, the New England Patriots have presented 28 individuals with the Joseph R. Mastrangelo Memorial Trophy, honoring the fan or fans that best represent the spirit of the Patriots in their communities
On December 28, Gary Cameron of Norton, Massachusetts was recognized as the 28th Patriots Fan of the Year. Gary, a Vietnam Veteran who was wounded in action on June 22, 1968, is the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal while serving with the United States Marine Corp as a Combat Engineer. Today, Gary, a retired correctional officer from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, runs the Norton VFW Post 8049 and is involved with his community through various fundraising and volunteering initiatives that support both his town and fellow veterans.
