1/8/06 Analysis: Patriots take first step in style
For the three-time champion New England Patriots, Saturday’s 28-3 shredding of the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Wild Card playoff was just one step on the path to Detroit and the Super Bowl--a path that grows much steeper this week.
The playoff-tested Patriots proved too much for the Jaguars as they ran away with a 28-3 wild card week win and a ticket to the Divisional Playoffs next weekend.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced that they have signed rookie defensive lineman Santonio Thomas to the active roster from the practice squad and that rookie defensive lineman Mike Wright has been placed on the reserve/injured list with an ankle injury.

The playoffs are finally here and the Patriots are going for their third straight Super Bowl title. Jacksonville is the first test for the Patriots and at 12-4, they will be a tough out. Here are some of the things New England needs to do Saturday night in order to advance in the playoffs.
