Q: How are you guys a different team than a few months ago when you faced the Giants?
LM: I don't know. We'll see if we got any better or not. We had a few guys out; they had a few guys out. I think we've got our guys back and they've got [theirs] back, it should be a good game.
Q: How good is their pass rush?
LM: It's very good. They have good pass rushers across the board and when their backups come in, they're good too. You can always have four guys that are very good pass rushers in the game.
Q: What does Jason Pierre-Paul do that makes him so difficult?
LM: He's another one of those guys that he's a big guy and he's got very good skills and he does a lot of things that other guys can't do. He's got the power, the speed, he's got all of it so that's what makes him hard to block.
Q: Do you ever see teams put four defensive ends on the field to rush the passer?
LM: Not very often. A lot of teams don't have the personnel to do that. That's what makes their pass rush good, that they can get that many guys in there at one time that can all rush the passer.
Q: For someone like you who doesn't see speed like that often, what's the biggest challenge or how do you adjust to that?
LM: Just dealing with the speed. A lot of times those guys inside aren't as fast the guys they bring in and can't move as quick as they can. You just have to realize who is in there and know what that guy can do and what he brings to the game when he's in there.
Q: Is it hard to balance keeping extra guys in for extra protection versus sending guys out on routes?
LM: You'll have to ask the play caller that one. I have no control over that. I'm not even worried about that. I just block the play that's called.
Q: What effect has Brian Waters had on the team?
LM: He's a good player. He's come in, done his job, done everything that has been asked of him; he's played good football. I think Brian was a great addition to our team.
Q: What makes Tom Brady successful when he's facing a team like the Giants that brings a lot of pressure from the defensive line?
LM: The same thing that makes Tom successful against every team. He knows where the guys are coming from, he can read the defense fast and he gets the ball to the right guy. I think he does a pretty good job against every team.
Q: What do you remember about how their front pressured you in the Super Bowl?
LM: That was four years ago, next question.
Q: Has Bill Belichick changed at all since you've been here or is it what you see is what you get?
LM: What you see is what you get. Bill, he's a very good coach, he's a demanding coach. He wants everything his way and it's worked for a long time for Bill so it's hard to argue with his success.
Q: Are you feeling better? Have the past couple days helped your knee?
LM: Yeah, I would say it helped. I made it through the whole game last week so that was good. This week is going to help even more. I'm glad we had this week off.
Q: Does Bill Belichick ever solicit veterans' opinions?
LM: Bill, if he feels there's a reason to ask how we feel about things or how we're seeing things, he would totally do that and he's done that.
Q: How much do you look forward to the physical challenge? It's going to a big challenge.
LM: It is going to be a big challenge. We're going to have to play our best game of the year, probably the best game of some of our careers. That's when you want to play your best game, is in the Super Bowl. You want to do everything perfect which we know that's not going to happen, not everything is going to happen the way we want it but as many plays as we can, we want them to go the right way.
Q: Everybody talks about the Giants pass rush. What do you see from them against the run?
LM: I don't know. I'd like to think we can run on any team but some days it just doesn't go that way. They do a good job with both. They have good linebackers, big linebackers and their front four, they play the run just about as good as they play the pass. Either way you dice it, it's going to be tough running or passing.
Q: Is there any part of the Super Bowl experience that you look forward to besides the game?
LM: I'm not sure. I don't think so. I think from my stance, it's all business this week. If we win, it will be fun; if we lose, it won't be. I wish I could give you something a little better but I don't have anything.
