"The NFL Network reported last week that the Patriots cannot use the June 1 cut on Amendola because he automatically receives his bonus on Tuesday, the first day of the league year (and the first day Amendola could be cut), but that’s not quite accurate, the way we understand it," writes Volin. "The league year begins at 4 p.m., and the Patriots will have until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to decide whether or not to keep Amendola. Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports that the Patriots have had talks with representatives for DT Vince Wilfork about restructuring his contract, according to a source.
"Wilfork is due to earn $7.5 million in base salary in 2014, the final year of his deal," adds Reiss. "His salary-cap charge is a hefty $11.6 million. He turns 33 in November and is coming off a torn Achilles injury that ended his 2013 season after four games." READ MORE>>
