Registration deadline extended through May 23 for Moms Football Safety Clinic
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (May 20, 2014) – The New England Patriots, in partnership with USA Football, will host a free Moms Football Safety Clinic on Thursday, May 29. The clinic will feature Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
More than 500 participants have already RSVP’d for next week’s clinic. With the addition of Kraft and Goodell to the program, the deadline to sign up for the event has been extended to Friday, May 23. Space is limited and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more or to register, please visit www.patriots.com/momsclinic.
The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Dana-Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium.
The clinic is designed for moms who have a son or daughter playing youth football or who are thinking about playing. The goal of this program is to help make the game of football better and safer for participants at all age and experience levels.
The event will help provide mothers, whose children are interested in playing tackle football, with the latest information about the safety of the game through USA Football’s “Heads Up Football” program.
“We want to give moms more information and the opportunity to ask questions about football, especially as it relates to safety in youth football,” said Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett and former Pop Warner football coach. “These clinics are a great way to interactively engage in the discussion and get answers to their questions. They have been very successful in other markets and we look forward to hosting our first Moms Football Safety Clinic here in New England.”
The clinic will feature panel discussions and instructions on concussion awareness, heat and hydration, proper equipment fitting and strength and conditioning. This event will also consist of interactive on-field drills to teach moms some of the proper techniques of blocking and tackling. Instructors and special guests will include representatives from the Patriots organization, including Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Tippett. “Heads Up” football master trainers and ambassadors, medical professionals, and wives of former players will take part in the panel discussion.
