To dip or not to dip? That shouldn’t be a question on game day. Jack Van Fleet, this week’s victor of our recipe contest with Dannon, shared a winning cheese dip that can be formed into a football. It's perfect for a hungry crowd.
“While making this cheese ball for a Super Bowl game I decided to shape it into a football, with pecans for laces,” Jack, who resides in Joplin, Mo, told us. Read
Football cheese dip
4 8 oz. packages cream cheese, softened
4 green onions
1 heaping Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. garlic salt
Mix softened cream cheese in large bowl with garlic salt and garlic powder. Finely chop the green onions in a food processor or blender, then add to the cream cheese mixture. Using your hands, blend everything together until it is mixed uniformly.
Place the ball of cheese on a large platter and mold into a football shape. Put the pecans in a line down the middle to form the football laces. Cover securely and place in the refrigerator for 24 hours to allow the flavor to blend into the cheese. Serve with crackers. Refrigerate when not being served.
