The Patriots, like seemingly every other NFL team this season, continue to be hit pretty hard with injuries. And the hits, they keep on a coming!
The Boston Globe notes that the latest names added to injured reserve -- a list that already includes Julian Edelman and Dont’a Hightower – are tight end Martellus Bennett with a hamstring injury and special teamer Nate Ebner with a knee injury suffered on a fake punt in Sunday’s win. Speaking of the beatdown of the Dolphins, the Globe observes that the Patriots finally showed they can get after the quarterback in the victory. The Globe recaps some of the key plays from the latest New England win.
The Globe notes that Bill Belichick continues to voice his support for Greg Schiano, who was hired and then let go in a matter of hours by the University of Tennessee over the weekend.

The Boston Herald’s Patriots report card describes Sunday’s performance as “another quick and easy knockout.” Herald columnist Steve Buckley says the Schiano mess does not leave Tennessee looking good. The Herald says New England’s pass rush is now rolling, but can that continue? The Herald Patriots notebook notes Bennett heading to IR. The Herald also looks back and breaks down the win over Miami.
The Providence Journal says Dion Lewis made the most of his workload against Miami. The Pro Jo also writes that Eric Lee’s NFL debut on Sunday for New England was a memorable one.
ESPNBoston.com has Belichick saying there will be time in the future to reflect on the fact that his team has had a winning record in 17 consecutive seasons. ESPNBoston.com notes that Tom Brady has been taking hits this fall at about the same rate he has over the last five seasons. ESPNBoston.com thinks that Bennett’s arrival brought out the best in Dwayne Allen.
ESPN has the Patriots at No. 2 in their weekly power rankings.
WEEI.com has Belichick explaining his one-week-at-a-time coaching philosophy on the station’s afternoon show. WEEI.com notes that the Patriots and Steelers have separated themselves in the AFC playoff picture as the teams head toward a Dec. 17 meeting in Pittsburgh.
NBC Sports writes that Belichick’s Patriots have beaten Mike Tomlin’s Steelers “like a drum” over the years. NBC Sports calls Tomlin the anti-Belichick. NBC Sports also declares that after some early season struggles, Stephon Gilmore is now playing some of the best football of his career.
In case anyone missed it, NFL.com relays Tomlin saying he expects “fireworks” in Week 15 against New England.
