10 prospects that could be Patriots

Posted Mar 27, 2014

The writers of PFW break down 10 draft prospects they feel could be Patriots.

The writers of Patriots Football Weekly have come up with ten 2014 NFL Draft prospects they feel could be Patriots. Here they are in no particular order.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington – More of a traditional tight end with the size to contribute as a blocker and the hands to help as a receiver.

Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech – Smaller, more athletic tight end in the Aaron Hernandez mold. Even worked out of the backfield as a ball carrier like Hernandez.

Deone Bucannon, SS, Washington State – Hard-hitting safety would add some thump to the backline of the Patriots defense. Andy thinks he’s the perfect fit.

Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State – The Patriots may not have been interested in acquiring DeSean Jackson but perhaps they’d be persuaded to draft a similar player in Cooks.

Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame – Mammoth run-stuffing defensive tackle with a blend of power and burst to perhaps replace Vince Wilfork.

Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State – Big, rangy red zone target on the outside who is capable to creating mismatches against smaller corners.

Dee Ford, DE, Auburn – Athletic edge rusher with the size and strength to hold up against the run. Was dominant in the BCS title game against Florida State.

Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri – Incredible athlete with great quickness and ability to get after the passer. Has drawn comparisons to Robert Quinn, which gets Andy all excited.

Calvin Pryor, FS, Louisville – Good size and athleticism with the closing speed to cover and physicality to make his presence felt in the middle of the defense.

Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota – Physical freak with the versatility to play all over the defensive line. Scouts consider him raw but are drooling over his potential.
