Posted Apr 24, 2014

The Patriots.com News Blitz gets you up-to-date on the latest Patriots news from local and national media.

Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports that Washington TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins made a pre-draft visit to Foxborough on Wednesday.

"Seferian-Jenkins is known for his receiving skills and blocking prowess," notes Kyed. "He was recruited out of high school as a tight end and offensive tackle and can line up inline or split out wide. Seferian-Jenkins was a big red zone presence during his three-year career with the Huskies." READ MORE>>

Aaron Wilson of National Football Post reports that Florida State LB Telvin Smith recently had a private workout with the Patriots.

"Smith is an aggressive blitzer with outstanding range and speed who has positional flexibility and special-teams skills," notes Wilson. READ MORE>>

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that rehabbing Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was in attendance at Gillette Stadium this week as the team began their voluntary workout program.

"Gronkowski was in attendance this week when the Patriots opened their voluntary offseason workout program, but he isn’t taking part in the full workload because of his rehab schedule," writes Howe. "Still, his teammates have seen much more of him lately." READ MORE>>

Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com writes that South Carolina QB Connor Shaw worked out for the Patriots this week, according to a report.

"The 22-year-old was 26-5 as a starter for the Gamecocks," adds Curran. "He had 24 touchdown passes and one pick as a senior. He’s undersized but a three-year SEC starter who is smart, vocal, poised and a good leader. Doesn’t have the greatest physical tools and appears to be a prospect for later in the draft." READ MORE>>

Meredith Perri of WEEI.com calls North Carolina DE Kareem Martin a potential Patriot as the team looks to make a selection in round 2 of this year's NFL draft.

"Martin has ideal size for his position, and, according to scouts, he also has good vision and recognition on the field," writes Perri. "Scouts also say, though, that he could increase his speed and that his pad levels need to become more consistent." READ MORE>>
