Patriots Close September With Another Household TV Rating of Over 30 in the Boston Market

Posted Oct 2, 2012

Sunday’s game, which drew a household rating of 32.8, marked the fourth time this season that the Patriots have drawn a household rating of more than 32 in the Boston market.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots closed out the month of September on a high note by defeating the Buffalo Bills 52-28 at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.

Sunday’s game, which drew a household rating of 32.8, marked the fourth time this season that the Patriots have drawn a household rating of more than 32 in the Boston market. This is the first season that the Patriots have ever drawn a household rating of at least 30 in every game that they played in the month of September.

The Patriots have played the Bills in September 11 times since 1992 and Sunday’s game drew the second highest household rating for a September matchup between the two teams. This year’s game is bested only by the Patriots’ 25-24 victory on Sept. 14, 2009, which received a household rating of 35.

The game also recorded a 60 share, meaning that on average 60 percent of all televisions in the Boston market between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET were tuned in to the Patriots. It is the third time this year that the Patriots recorded a 60 share or better.

On the field, the Patriots found themselves trailing 21-7 midway through the third quarter. Running back Danny Woodhead scored a touchdown on a 17-yard pass from Tom Brady with just over eight minutes left in the third quarter to ignite a 45-point second half and help the Patriots even their record at 2-2. The Patriots’ furious come-from-behind win was reflected in the peak television ratings, as the game’s ratings peaked around 3:30 p.m. ET with a 37 household rating and a 66 share.
