On overcoming mistakes:
We played a good football team. We made too many mistakes. It's tough to overcome as many mistakes as we did. (Buffalo) made a lot of plays and they've got a good team.
On what Buffalo did differently in the second half:
They're a good coverage team. They made some good plays in the pass game. They took advantage of some opportunities that they got. We fought to the end but it just wasn't enough.
On having as many interceptions today as he had all last season:
If it was a fluke:
If there was a rational explanation:
(Buffalo) made some good plays on the ball. Some days the ball gets batted up in the air and it goes your way, and some days it doesn't. That's part of the game. George Wilson made a hell of a play on that one interception. It's the way the ball bounces. That's football.
On giving up the 21 point lead:
It's never easy; (Buffalo) came back last week. We were expecting a four quarter game and we had our opportunities. We didn't really take advantage of them like I wish we would have. We had too many turnovers, too many penalties and allowed (Buffalo) to get some easy plays there. They took advantage when they needed to.
Wes is always a big factor in the game, I know he had a bunch of catches and he's a great player for us. We threw the ball quite a bit today. A lot of the guys made plays out there and we needed each of them. I just wish we would have made a few less mistakes.
On being shocked by losing after having the lead:
It's a four quarter game and you play for 60 minutes. Things change fast. (Buffalo) gets a few plays and made a few turnovers. Before halftime we're going in to score and Bryan Scott makes an interception on the sideline. They go down and score. We start the second half with an interception. If you let them back in the game like that, a team that is explosive in the pass game like they are, they took advantage of it.
On dominating Buffalo for so long and losing:
It's one loss and it's a long season. We'll go back to work and see if we can play better next week.
On how different Buffalo is this year:
I don't know. It's hard to compare years.
On the throws to WRs
I've got to wait and see the tape, but (McKelvin) made a good play. With receivers some days you catch them, some days you drop them. With quarterbacks some days it's a touchdown and some days it's an interception, it's just a part of playing football. It's a long football season and we're not going anywhere. We'll be back and we'll be fighting next week. Hopefully we'll learn from it, move on, make a few less mistakes next week and try to go win a game in Oakland.
On how quickly things change:
It's football. It's a few plays here or there. We've been on the other end of that before, too. You've got to play for 60 minutes. You've got to keep your foot on the gas pedal and play mistake free. We certainly didn't do that. (We had) too many turnovers, too many penalties, too many scoring opportunities that we missed. That's why we lost the game.
On if it was a helpless feeling at the end of the game:
(Buffalo) got a good break. I wish (Fred Jackson) would have went into the end zone to give us a chance to get the ball back but he didn't. The refs changed the call. They had an opportunity to run the clock out and kick the field goal. It's smart football.
WIDE RECEIVER WES WELKER
On his overall thought of the night:
I think the turnovers really killed us in the end. We were able to do some good things out there and moved the ball pretty well and things like that. We get in key positions, we can't turn the ball over and make some of those mistakes and pick sixes and different things like that. We didn't play very good complimentary football with each other. And the Bills came out there and played hard and kept fighting and they were definitely a tougher team than us today.
On reading the plays in the game:
I mean I knew that there were some opportunities and things like that. You know sometimes that's just the way the games play out. You go into it trying to catch some balls and gives me yards for the offense and try to move the ball down the field and ultimately score. At times we did that very well and at times we didn't. We just got to put it all together and be on the same page and understand that we just have to keep possession of the ball and move down the field, make some plays and score.
On the cause of New England turnovers today:
I think it's multiple things. You know, I'm sure Tom [Brady] will tell you, bad throws and different things like that, that ultimately we got to be on the same page and we're all accountable for it and making sure that we're in the right spots making the plays we need to.
On how tonight's game detracts from their usual game:
Pretty much it detracts everything. I mean, we lost the game. You know, what should be a great fun day of breaking records and doing all those things, it's totally the opposite. I think it shows that we've got a long way to go and we got to step up across the board and make plays and understand that we just can't play like this.
On how the team meltdown, going from good to bad
Like I said earlier, the turnovers I think we're the key thing. And they did a great job of making plays and their defense did a good job. You've got to give them all the credit in the world.
On Brady and game interceptions:
I think anytime you turn the ball over you definitely, especially in the situations we were in, it's never good. It's never good for your psyche, it's never good for the team and never good for scoring points. It's definitely something we ultimately, all collectively, you know it's not just on Tom. It's everybody getting on the same page and understanding that we're in this together. And we all need to make plays and we're all accountable for it.
On the Bills:
I mean they're a tough football team and they played very well. They kept fighting and you've got to give them all the credit.
TIGHT END ROB GRONKOWSKI
On why the Bills were able to get back in the game after being down early:
We just weren't executing well on offense. If we start executing at the beginning then we've got to keep it up the whole game. Of course we had a couple nice drives at the beginning of the game and in the third and fourth quarter, but we've just got to keep on executing and keep on doing what we have to do.
On if they accomplished too much, too soon, too easily to start the game:
No, we just didn't stay focused I guess. It's never too much, too soon. You always want to get off to a fast start, but we've got to keep on going and keep on hanging on to that.
On the difference between this Bills defense this year and last year:
They're a good defense. The Bills have good players, they play hard and they go 100% every play. They're a tough defense.
On if the Patriots were surprised by the amount of turnovers this afternoon:
Turnovers happen. When it happens you've just got to figure out the problem, it happens. It's part of the game.
On if the offense felt helpless on the sidelines at the end of the game:
Yeah. I wish we could have gotten the ball back and gone on a drive. They just have a good team overall, offense and defense, and they were just the better team today.
On if he believes the Bills are much better this year then they have been in the previous years:
I just got here in the league. They're a good team. Every time I play them they're always tough and they're always competitive. They've got good players. They're legit.
