Patriots sign free agent OL Darrion Weems

The New England Patriots announced today the signing of rookie free agent OL Darrion Weems.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today the signing of rookie free agent OL Darrion Weems. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Weems, 23, originally was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a rookie free agent out of Oregon on May 4, 2012 and was released by the Vikings on July 24, 2012.

The 6-foot-5, 302 pounder started all 14 games at left tackle last season and was part of an offensive unit that ranked third in the nation in scoring, fifth in rushing and sixth in total offense.
