Skip Wood of USA Today features special teams players as number eight in his list of the ten worst NFL jobs. Wood highlights Patriots special teams Pro-Bowler Larry Izzo in describing the job of a wedge-buster. As Wood points out, it takes an aggressive, fearless football player to succeed at Izzo's job. Wood also includes some very interesting history of the special teams wedge.
The Boston Globe's sports log reports former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe is likely to be released by the Buffalo Bills. The Bills, perhaps borrowing a page from the Patriots book, are anxious to begin the development of last year's first-round draft pick, J.P Losman. Losman, who played at Tulane, missed most of last season with a broken leg. It is reported that Bledsoe could resurface in Dallas, where he would reunite with the coach who drafted him to New England in 1993, Bill Parcells.
Also in the Globe, Chris Snow reports Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona, who was in a minor car accident yesterday, would like to have Patriots coach Bill Belichick visit the Sox at spring training to dispense advice regarding defending a championship.
