has long had seemingly positive relationship with Tim Tebow
. It goes back to the latter’s days as the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Florida, a campus the former visited NFL offseason.
There was even plenty of speculation that Belichick’s Patriots might want to draft Tebow back in 2010 after the pair was seen dining together in the North End of Boston
leading up to the draft.
Now, after three tumultuous seasons in the NFL that have seen Tebow go from leading the Broncos to a huge playoff upset to a castoff from the sinking ship that is the New York Jets, the quarterback is free to seek employment anywhere he sees fit.
Some thought that might mean a chance to join Belichick’s Patriots, a team that also includes offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels
, who actually drafted Tebow in the first-round for Denver back in 2010.
But according to a report from Yahoo! Sports
, don’t expect to see Tebow in a Patriots uniform any time soon.
In a piece that’s about Tebow being black-balled in the NFL these days due to his “cult-like following,” Michael Silver
writes that Belichick doesn’t have the affinity for the Tebow the player that everyone assumes.
Citing organizational sources, Silver says that Belichick “hates” Tebow as a player. The source also said the team also wouldn’t bring Tebow for his versatility as an athlete – “No chance. Plus they wouldn’t like the circus that comes with it.”
If the source is valid and these statements are true, sounds pretty unlikely that we’ll see Tebow in a Patriots uniform any time soon, or ever. Do you believe that Belichick “hates” Tebow as a player? Will we ever see him in a Patriots uniform? Let us know with a comment below!
