Report: Revis 'wants to play' for Patriots

Posted Mar 12, 2014

Darrelle Revis reportedly has a desire to play in New England as the Pro Bowl cornerback looks for a new NFL home.

According to CBS Sports, Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis wants to join his former AFC East rival as he looks for a new NFL home.

With the Patriots losing Aqib Talib in free agency to the Broncos, New England is certainly in the market for a No. 1 cornerback.

CBS’ Jason La Canfora wrote on Twitter: “Patriots in a strong position to land Revis now, especially after Talib's deal. Revis wants to be there. Will only take a 5th round pick”

Tampa Bay has reportedly been trying to trade Revis, who spent just one season with the Bucs, for the last couple days. Revis has a unique contract that essentially pays him $16 million annually, with a $16 million cap hit. For him to land in New England, or any other NFL locale, he’d likely need to be willing to restructure his contract.

If the Bucs can’t work a trade for Revis, they are expected to cut him just a year after trading a first- and fourth-round pick to the Jets to acquire the league’s consensus No. 1 corner, who was coming off a torn ACL at the time.

Rumors and reports have also indicated that the Jets might also be interested in Revis, while teams with huge cap space like the Raiders and Browns have also supposedly been in the mix.

Do you want Revis? Would you take him under his current $16 million contract? Let us know with a comment below!
