Reports: Arrington back for four more

Posted Mar 15, 2013

The Patriots are tackling free agency with abandon this Friday, according to numerous media outlets, with player visits and reported signings. The latest is cornerback Kyle Arrington, who is said to have re-signed with the Patriots for four seasons.

Arrington, one of 18 New England free agents this offseason, has played both inside as a slot corner and outside on the edge in his four previous campaigns in Foxborough, often starting at both spots. He was reduced to more of a situational role last season with the additions of Aqib Talib (who remains a free agent at the moment) and rookie Alfonzo Dennard, who emerged as a starter in the latter half of the season.

The diminutive Arrington, though, is a versatile player who was even used by New England as a situational pass rusher at times in the past. His toughness, too, is seen as an asset. Often listed on the injury report, he nonetheless manages to suit up nearly every week.

Arrington may not be the greatest player in any one aspect of his game, but he is adequate enough in all of them, it seems, to warrant staying on the Patriots roster.
