According to a report from the National Football Post, Patriots free agent running back LeGarrette Blount
is schedule to take a free agent visit to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
reports the visit may not be until Monday.
NFP also says of Blount that, “there are other NFL teams interested in addition to the Steelers and Patriots.”
Blount finished second on the Patriots with 772 yards rushing last season (trailing Stevan Ridley
by a single yard) with an impressive 5.0-yard average, in his first and only year in New England. He tied for a team high with seven touchdowns on the ground. He really hit his stride late in the season, rushing for 189 yards and two scores in the season finale against Buffalo and 166 yards two weeks later in the playoff opener against the Colts when he had an amazing four touchdowns, including a 73 yarder.
Blount joined New England via trade from the Buccaneers on draft weekend a year ago.
Prior to the news of this visit to Pittsburgh, news on Blount had been remarkably quiet early in free agency. The Steelers seem to have interest in adding a veteran running back, having previously hosted Jaguars free agent Maurice Jones-Drew
