Williams is a veteran of 11 NFL seasons, all with the Vikings. He’s a six-time Pro Bowl talent who in his prime was a dominant interior player.
Interestingly the visit may have come thanks in part to Williams’ own prodding of the Patriots through the media.
In a recent story regarding veteran free agents finding the job hunt a bit difficult this offseason he told USA Today of New England, “Tell them to look me up.”
A few days later he was apparently in town making his case for employment in person.
In his 11 seasons the 6-5, 311-pound Williams has played in 171 games and recorded 60 sacks. While he’ll turn 34 later this summer, he’s never played in fewer than 14 games in a season and played all 16 games eight times.
