The Patriots entered Sunday coming off their most difficult defeat of the season. That being said, the team showed no ill effects of last week's loss to the Colts. The Patriots defeated the New York Jets 31-14 at Gillette Stadium and improved to 7-3 (3-1 AFC East) and avenged a Week 2 loss at The Meadowlands "That was a real good performance by our football team today. We came off, obviously, a tough weekend last week, night game and all that. They were ready to play this afternoon. I’m really proud of the way our guys stepped up," head coach Bill Belichick said according to the Boston Globe.
CBSsports reports WR Wes Welker caught a career-high 15 receptions for 192 yards Sunday against the Jets.
CB Leigh Bodden had his best game in a Patriots uniform, picking off Jets QB Mark Sanchez three times. “We looked at all (the Jets’) turnovers on Saturday,” Bodden said according to the Boston Herald. “We definitely felt we could get some this week. Just got to catch it when it’s thrown to you.”
The Providence Journal reports Bodden leads the Patriots with five interceptions and a team-high 12 pass deflections.
According to the New York Times, the Patriots "all but sank the Jets’ postseason chances only added to the sting of another lopsided defeat." The Jets fall to 4-6 overall.
ESPN Boston reports the last time a Patriots defense had four interceptions in a game was Dec. 17, 2006 against the Texans.
