Brady named AFC Offensive Player of the Month

The New England Patriots announced today that QB Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October by the National Football League. It is the third time that Brady has earned an AFC Player of the Month honor. He was the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and October in 2007.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that QB Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October by the National Football League. It is the third time that Brady has earned an AFC Player of the Month honor. He was the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and October in 2007.

Brady led New England to a 3-1 record in October, including a 59-0 win over Tennessee and a 38-7 win over Tampa Bay. He completed 92 of 131 passes (70.2 percent) for 1,161 yards, 12 touchdowns and a 121.7 passer rating during the month. Since the 2006 season, Brady is now 12-1 (.923) in the month of October. Brady's 12 touchdown passes this October ranks first in the AFC and second in the NFL.

Brady completed 29 of 34 pass attempts for 380 yards and six touchdowns against Tennessee and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the 14th time for his performance. Brady had 345 yards passing in the first half, setting a Patriots record for most passing yards in a half.

In a historic second quarter against Tennessee, Brady threw five touchdowns, the highest in a single quarter in NFL history. His five touchdowns also tied the most in Brady's career in a single half. Brady also had five touchdowns in the first half at Miami on Oct. 21, 2007. Brady tied a career high with six total touchdown passes. He also had six scoring passes on Oct. 21, 2007 at Miami. Brady joins a list of four other quarterbacks who have thrown six touchdowns in a game two times.

Last week against Tampa Bay, Brady threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns in leading New England to a 35-7 win. Brady registered his 26th 300-yard game, tying Drew Bledsoe for the most 300-yard games in New England history.
