In eight NFL seasons, Jones has recorded a total of 420 tackles (299 solo), 4.5 sacks, six interceptions for 73 yards, 41 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and 72 special teams tackles.

In 2005 with the Miami Dolphins, Jones started the first six games of the season and recorded 35 tackles (27 solo) and a career-high two sacks before being placed on injured reserve (10/25/05).

In two seasons with the New Orleans Saints (2003- 04), Jones started all 31 games in which he played and finished third on the team in tackles both seasons.

As a Patriot for five seasons from 1998-2002, Jones plated in 72 games with six starts, recording 195 tackles (149 solo), 2.5 sacks, four interceptions, 19 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 65 special teams tackles.

Jones has started the last 37 games in which he has played, dating back to his first regular season game as a New Orleans Saint on September 7, 2003.

Jones scored his first career defensive touchdown on a 24-yard fumble return for the Patriots against the New York Jets on Sept. 15, 2002.

In 2001, Jones was a disruptive force for the Super Bowl XXXVI champions, forcing a team-high three fumbles.

In the 2001 playoffs, Jones recorded 15 tackles (11 solo), in addition to an interception in the 2001 AFC Championship Game.

In 2000, Jones moved from cornerback to safety, where he started nine of 15 games and recorded the first two interceptions of his career.


2005 Season

2005 (Miami Dolphins): Jones started the first six games of the season and recorded 35 tackles (27 solo) and a career-high two sacks before being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 25, 2005.
2004 Season

2004 (New Orleans Saints): Started all 16 games at free safety for the Saints ... Was third on the team with 110 tackles ... Also had an interception, a forced fumble, five passes defensed and two stops on special teams ... Played in the 100th regular season game of his NFL career in contest at Dallas (12/12).
2003 Season

2003 (New Orleans Saints): Started all 15 games in which he appeared...Inactive 10/5 at Carolina due to groin injury...Had lone interception of season in season finale vs. Dallas (12/28)...Posted 79 total tackles.
2002 Season

Pittsburgh (9/9): Started at free safety and recorded four tackles in the Patriots 30-14 win over the Steelers on Monday Night Football … Deflected a Kordell Stewart pass into the air, setting up an interception by Terrell Buckley in the third quarter to keep the momentum on the Patriots side… Teamed with Ty Law to tackle Amos Zereoue for no gain late in the second quarter … Recorded a career-high four special teams tackles (2 solo). at N.Y. Jets (9/15): Scored his first career touchdown on a 24-yard fumble recovery on the third play of the third quarter to give the Patriots a commanding 17-0 lead in their 44-7 win over the Jets … Recorded his second career sack on the same play, dropping Vinny Testaverde for a seven-yard loss, then forcing him to fumble and picking up the ball to run for the score … Recorded an assist as part of a secondary that did not allow a reception by a Jets wide receiver until 3:52 remaining in the third quarter … Jets wide receivers caught only three balls all afternoon. 2001 Season

Started at free safety in 12 of 16 regular season games and recorded a career-high 57 tackles (41 solos) … Led team with three forced fumbles … Finished the regular season second on the team with 15 special teams tackles. Miami (10/7): Started first game of the season at free safety and was part of secondary that held Jay Fiedler and the Dolphins to only 87 yards passing … Broke up third down Fiedler pass intended for running back J.J. Johnson in the third quarter, forcing a Dolphins punt. San Diego (10/14): Collected a season-high six tackles (5 solos) and broke up a Doug Flutie pass intended for Curtis Conway in the end zone. Indianapolis (10/21): Recorded a touchdown-saving tackle on a Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison 68-yard completion at the two-yard line … The Patriots defense held, forcing a 25-yard field goal attempt which Jones blocked. Atlanta (11/4): Recorded his first career sack when he brought down Michael Vick for an eight-yard loss, part of the Patriots season-high nine sack performance. St. Louis (11/18): Tackled Rams kick returner Yo Murphy for a one-yard loss when St. Louis attempted a reverse on the opening kickoff. N.Y. Jets (12/2): Downed two punts, including one at the Jets one-yard line in the second quarter … Part of secondary that held the Jets to just 20 yards passing in the second half. Cleveland (12/9): Intercepted his first pass of the season and the third of his career when he caught a Tim Couch pass on the second play of the game … Forced a Dennis Northcutt fumble that was recovered by Lawyer Milloy late in the fourth quarter. Buffalo (12/16): Tied a season-high with six tackles (4 solos) as the Patriots held the Bills to only nine points in 12-9 overtime victory. Tampa Bay (9/3): Started his first game at free safety and registered two tackles. N.Y. Jets (9/11): Credited with three tackles and defended a pass from Vinny Testaverde intended for Vincent Brisby on third-and-three, forcing the Jets to punt … Part of defensive unit which held the Jets to 59 yards rushing. Miami (9/24): Accumulated five tackles, including a tackle of Lamar Smith for a 6-yard loss as the Patriots limited the Dolphins to 242 yards, the lowest amount allowed by the Patriots in 2000. Denver (10/1): Recorded his first career interception, thwarting a fourth quarter comeback bid by the Broncos in the 28-19 win by the Patriots … Added five tackles. Indianapolis (10/8): Notched his second interception in as many weeks, this time halting a Colts fourth quarter comeback bid in the Patriots 24-16 win … Recorded a season-high three special teams tackles as the Patriots limited the Colts to only six yards on two punt returns. 1998 Season

Made the transition from running back to defensive back prior to his senior year at Syracuse … Finished his collegiate career with 101 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumbles recovered … Offensively, he rushed for 563 yards and nine touchdowns on 145 carries … He also had two receptions for nine yards and returned nine kickoffs for 176 yards (19.6 avg.). 1997(Senior): Earned All-ECAC first-team and second-team All-Big East honors after making the transition to defensive back as a senior … Started every game at strong safety and was credited with 80 tackles (50 solos), three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four interceptions, which he returned for 104 yards … Earned ECAC Player of the Week honors when he returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown to seal a 30-19 victory over Tulane … It was the second longest interception return in school history … Recorded an interception and lined up for one play at tailback, scoring on a 1-yard plunge in a 33-13 victory over Miami, marking the first time that a Syracuse player had scored touchdowns on offense and defense since Ernie Davis in 1961 … Underwent ankle surgery, causing him to miss the Oklahoma and Virginia Tech games. 1996 (Junior): Appeared in every game in a rotation among reserve running backs, but was an impact player on special teams … Rushed for 265 yards and three touchdowns on 61 carries (4.3 avg.) and recorded 15 special teams stops. 1995 (Sophmore): Appeared in 10 games, including his only career offensive start, and carried 72 times for 248 yards (3.4 avg.) and five touchdowns … Missed two games and received limited playing time in two others after suffering a knee sprain vs. West Virginia. 1994 (Freshman): Appeared in seven games as a reserve tailback … Carried seven times for 49 yards (4.5 avg.). 1993 (Redshirt): Redshirted as a freshman.
