Allen, 27, originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (64th overall) out of Clemson by Indianapolis in the 2012 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 265-pounder, has appeared in 57 regular-season games with 56 starts and registered 126 receptions for 1,451 yards and 19 touchdowns. In two playoff seasons with the Colts, he has played in four postseason contests and caught 15 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. As a rookie in 2012, Allen led all rookie tight ends in receptions (45) and receiving yards (521).

CAREER TRANSACTIONS

Dwayne Allen was acquired by New England from Indianapolis along with a 2017 sixth-round draft selection (200th overall) in a trade in exchange for a 2017 fourth-round draft selection (137th overall) on  March 9, 2017 ... Originally drafted by Indianapolis in the third round (64th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

SEASONAL REVIEWS

2016 (14/14 - Indianapolis)

  • Started all 14 regular-season games he appeared in and totaled 35 receptions for 406 yards and six touchdowns.
  • Was inactive for two games due to injury.
  • Posted a season-high six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in the win vs. Chicago (10/9).
  • Notched his first career multi-touchdown game with three touchdown receptions in a Monday Night Football win at N.Y. Jet (12/5). Finished with four receptions for a season-high 72 yards and three touchdowns.

2015 (13/12 - Indianapolis)

  • Played in 13 regular-season games with 12 starts and recorded 16 receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown. Also had one rushing attempt for 1 yard and one special teams tackle.
  • Was inactive for two games due to injury and was placed on Injured Reserve on Dec. 30, prior to the regular-season finale.
  • Caught three passes for 17 yards and one touchdown in the season-opener at Buffalo (9/13).

2014 (13/13, 3/2 - Indianapolis)

  • Started all 13 regular-season games he played in and caught 29 passes for 395 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns. Also notched three special teams tackles.
  • Started two-of-three playoff games and caught 11 passes for 90 yards and one score.
  • Notched six touchdown receptions in a seven-week span from Week 3 to Week 9.
  • Notched four receptions for a season-high 64 yards and a career-long 41-yard touchdown in the season-opener at Denver (9/7).

2012 (16/16, 1/1 - Indianapolis)

  • Started all 16 regular-season games as a rookie and finished the year with 45 receptions for 521 yards and three touchdowns. Also recorded three rushing attempts for 5 yards and made two special teams tackles.
  • Led all NFL rookie tight ends in receptions and receiving yards.
  • Started in his NFL playoff debut at Baltimore (1/6) and notched four receptions for 51 yards. Also made one special teams tackle.
  • Caught his first NFL pass for a 3-yard touchdown in a Week 2 win vs. Minnesota (9/16).
  • Posted six receptions for a season-high 75 yards vs. Miami (11/4).
  • Totaled three receptions for 18 yards at Kansas City (12/23), setting a record for most receptions by a rookie tight end in team history.

COLLEGE

  • Started 33-of-41 games at Clemson, recording 93 receptions for 1,079 yards and 12 touchdowns.
  • Honored as Clemson’s first recipient of the John Mackey Award, given to the nation’s best tight end.
  • Was a consensus NCAA All-America selection and was named All-America first-team by The Associated Press, ESPN.com, Phil Steele, Football Writers Association and Sports Illustrated, adding second-team accolades from The NFL Draft Report and CBSSports.com and honorable mention from Pro Football Weekly as a senior in 2011.
  • Selected as a unanimous All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team member in 2011 and second-team All-ACC in 2010.
  • Collected 93 receptions over his career, tying him with John McMakin (1969-1971) for the most catches by a tight end in Clemson history and placing him 18th in the school’s overall career record book.
  • Notched 50 receptions in 2011 to break the school season record for tight ends, topping the previous mark of 43 catches by Michael Palmer in 2009.
  • Joined John McMakin (1,255) as the only Clemson tight ends to gain over 1,000 receiving yards in a career.
  • With 598 yards in 2011, broke the school season record of 507 yards by Michael Palmer in 2009 and ranked fifth on the Atlantic Coast Conference’s annual record chart for tight ends.

  • Attended Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, N.C. Finished his career with 68 receptions for 1,257 yards.
  • Lettered in basketball and earned team Most Improved Player honors as a senior.
  • Majored in biological/health sciences at Clemson.
