CAREER TRANSACTIONS

Kony Ealy was acquired by the New England Patriots from Carolina along with a 2017 second-round draft selection (64th overall) in a trade in exchange for a 2017 third-round draft selection (72nd overall) on March 11, 2017 ... Originally drafted by Carolina in the second round (60th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

SEASONAL REVIEWS

2016 (16/6 - Carolina)

  • Played in all 16 regular-season games with six starts and finished with 32 total tackles, five sacks, one interception, three passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
  • Started vs. Tampa Bay (10/5) and registered a season-high five tackles. Five tackles also tied a career high.
  • Played as a reserve vs. Arizona (10/30), making his first career regular-season interception, and returned it for seven yards.
  • Notched three tackles, one sack and a forced fumble at Seattle (12/4).
  • Posted two tackles, one sack and a forced fumble vs. Atlanta (12/24).

2015 (16/9, 3/1 - Carolina)

  • Played in 16 games with nine starts and finished fourth on the team with a career-high five sacks. Recorded sacks in five consecutive games, the longest such streak of his career. Added 32 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two passes defensed.
  • Contributed to unit that finished in the top 10 in the NFL in total defense, rating sixth. Part of defense that helped Carolina lead the NFL in interceptions (24), takeaways (39), points off turnovers (148) and turnover differential.
  • Appeared in all three postseason contests with one start and notched seven tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception he returned for 19 yards.
  • Notched a season and career-high tying five tackles in the start at Tampa Bay (10/04).
  • Posted a career-high tying five tackles vs. Indianapolis (11/2) and sacked Colts quarterback Andrew Luck for a loss of six yards, starting a streak of sacks in five consecutive games.

Added eight tackles, an interception and a strip-sack fumble and fumble recovery to become the first player to record multiple sacks and an interception in the Super Bowl and the first player since San Diego's Leslie O'Neal (vs. Kansas City 1/2/93) to amass multiple sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in a postseason game.

2014 (15/0, 2/0 - Carolina)

  • Played in 15 regular-season games as a reserve and registered 12 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble.
  • Appeared in both postseason contests and posted four tackles and 1.5 sacks.
  • Was inactive for the Week 1 contest at Tampa Bay (9/7).
  • Posted one tackle, a sack and forced a fumble vs. Tampa Bay (12/14).

COLLEGE

  • Played in 38 games with 25 starts at Missouri before entering NFL following junior season. Produced 93 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 19 quarterback pressures, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and 13 passes defensed.
  • Was first-team All-SEC selection as a junior in 2013, starting 14 games and stood second on the Tigers with 9.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. Also led the team with 14 quarterback pressures - second most in school history. Compiled 43 tackles and forced a team-leading three fumbles to go along with one fumble recovery. Returned one interception 49 yards for a touchdown in addition to posting six passes defensed.
  • As a sophomore, played in 12 games with 10 starts and finished third on the team with 10 tackles for loss. Recorded 37 tackles, 3.5 sacks, five quarterback pressures and one forced fumble. Ranked first among defensive linemen and second on the team with seven passes defensed. 
  • Played in 12 games with one start as a freshman in 2011. Notched 13 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack. 
  • Redshirted as a true freshman in 2010.
