Biography

Asa Watson, 23, played in 36 games for North Carolina State and caught 29 passes for 351 yards with one touchdown. The 6-foot-3, 237-pounder is the brother of former Patriots TE Ben Watson.

Asa Watson was signed by the New England Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 12, 2014.

COLLEGE
  • Played in 36 career games and caught 29 passes for 351 yards and one touchdown. Also returned one punt for 20 yards.
  • Received a medical redshirt for the 2011 season after undergoing heart surgery.
  • Named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2012.

PERSONAL
  • Born Aug. 2, 1990.
  • Tallied 16 receptions for 423 yards and two touchdowns as a senior and was an all-state selection.
  • A Shrine Bowl selection and captain, he won the event’s Outstanding Achievement Award for the highest GPA among participants.
  • Older brother, Benjamin was a first-round draft selection by the Patriots in 2004 and spent six seasons with New England before moving onto the Cleveland Browns and currently plays for the New Orleans Saints.
