- Brian Hoyer was born the son of Julie and Axel Hoyer on October 13, 1985.
- Was a two-year starter for Coach Chuck Kyle at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland.
- Associated Press Division I honorable mention all-state selection as a senior while completing 158-of-281 throws for 2,570 yards, 21 touchdowns in 2003.
- Connected on 131-of-263 passes for 2,130 yards, 18 touchdowns in 2002.
- Also competed in baseball as a pitcher, infielder and outfielder.
- Compiled an 8-1 record with a 1.99 ERA as a sophomore while leading St. Ignatius to the 2002 Division I state championship.
- Earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in social science - community relations from Michigan State.
