Agent: Darrelle Revis headed back to Jets

According to his agent, Darrelle Revis has agreed to terms with the New York Jets.

Almost a year to day from when he signed with the Patriots, cornerback Darrelle Revis is headed back to the Jets. This news came from his agent Neil Schwartz, who tweeted the news that his client agreed to terms with his original team.

"Pending legal, @Revis24 has agreed to terms with the New York Jets #RevisIsland #nyjets" was how the tweet read, and just like that it appears the Patriots have lost their highest profile free agent ever.

The Patriots opted not to pick up Revis' $20 million option and he became a free agent at 4 p.m., and soon thereafter the Jets landed their man. ESPN.com's Adam Schefter indicated that New York exceeded the $40 million in guaranteed money that was widely reported to be Revis' goal.

According to multiple reports, Revis signed a five-year, $70 million deal with $39 million guaranteed and $48 million due over the first three years.

Revis confirmed on his twitter account that he'll be headed back to New York and thanked the Patriots and New England fans for an 'unbelievable year.'
