Colonial Clash to Involve 88 Players from New England

Annual UNH/UMass rivalry game to be played at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, October 22

Foxborough, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts and the University of New Hampshire football teams are just over three weeks away from renewing their annual rivalry in the Colonial Clash.

The combined rosters of the two teams, who will clash at Gillette Stadium on October 22 at 3:30 p.m., include 88 players from 77 different cities and towns across the six New England states (list below), extending the energy and excitement surrounding the Colonial Clash beyond the two universities to towns, high schools and local youth football programs.

In 2010, 32,848 fans enjoyed a full day of big-time college football atmosphere, including marching bands, cheerleaders, reunions and tailgating. The Wildcats beat the Minutemen, 39-13, in that contest.

Fans looking to enjoy the excitement of college football when the Minutemen and Wildcats invade Gillette Stadium can purchase tickets for $25, which includes parking.  A group price is available for groups of 20 or more at $20 per person, which also includes parking. Individual tickets are available via www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Groups should call 877-438-7387.

The Minutemen play at Old Dominion this weekend in an important Colonial Athletic Association game, while the Wildcats host Holy Cross in their first home game of the season.

Beginning in 2012 the UMass football team will call Gillette Stadium its home when it moves up to the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA.  The Minutemen will host their first-ever FBS opponent on September 8 when the Indiana Hoosiers of the Big 10 visit Foxboro.

In addition to serving as the home of the three-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots and the New England Revolution of the MLS, Gillette Stadium has hosted a wide variety of sports events since opening in 2002, including the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships, FIFA World Cup qualifiers and high school football Super Bowls.
