Gridiron Grub: Buffalo wings

Each week Totally Patriots preps us for game day by giving us a taste of traditional foods from the opposing team's home city. With the Bills coming up tomorrow, wings are definitely on the menu. If you're heading to western New York to cheer on the Patriots, then be sure to try buffalo wings at the place that invented them, The Anchor Bar. If you're staying home for this one, though, you can cook up your own wings with homemade sauce. Whether you prefer traditional buffalo or are craving honey mustard, Chef Mike has you covered.

  • For a dozen wings
  • 3 oz unsalted butter, melted (3/4 stick)
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (Frank's or your preferred hot sauce)
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt

  • For a dozen wings
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare the wings in advance and reheat them on the grill, or cook them on the grill just before you're ready to serve.

For each sauce, mix all the ingredients together until well blended. Then toss with the wings in a large bowl or Ziploc bag.
