When the Patriots kicked off the season against the Dolphins, we learned how to prepare a spicy Cuban sandwich, and now it's time to bring the Miami heat again with a new recipe for your tailgate party. This time, Chef Mike is showing us how to make fried plantains, a simple snack you can whip up on game day with just a few ingredients.
FRIED PLANTAINS RECIPE
Rice wine vinegar
Peel the plantains and slice crosswise into thick, one-inch pieces. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan on medium-high. Add the plantains. Cook for 30 seconds on each side, then remove.
Use a flat tool to press the plantains into small patties. Return to the frying pan and cook for another 15 seconds on each side, until golden brown. Season with salt.
Make the sauce by whisking together all the ingredients and then serve with plantains.
