HOMEMADE RESTAURANT-STYLE SALSA RECIPE
1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes
1/2 white onion, chopped
3 large cloves garlic, finely minced or grated
1 jalapeno, finely chopped
Juice of one lime
3/4 tsp kosher or sea salt
1 good handful cilantro, chopped
2 pinches of sugar
Puree tomatoes in a food processor until fairly smooth (or desired texture).
Place tomatoes along with all other ingredients in a frying pan over low heat for about 30 minutes (you're not cooking the salsa, just drawing out the flavors).Try it!
Salsa is pretty personal so adjust according to your own taste. Add more lime, salt, sugar, jalapeno or cilantro, if necessary.
Refrigerate for about 1 hour. The longer the salsa sits, the better it tastes. Taste it again before serving and adjust seasoning if necessary.
