Jets Postgame Quotes

New York Jets players comment on their game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, on Monday, December 6, 2010.

Shaun Ellis, Defensive End
(On the game)
"I can't really tell you, but we lost. They (the Patriots) came out and played a good game on offense, they put up points on us and we couldn't stop them. You have to take your hat off to them because they gave it to us today. We are winners, so we'll take it. We look forward to coming back. We have got some things we need to go back and work on. We came out and thought we were prepared and they played an excellent ballgame and had us on our heels. We were just trying to make a play and we couldn't. We just couldn't stop them. You have to take your hat off to them because they beat us. We beat them at our home and they took care of business at their home. It is just one loss. We hated for it to go the way it did and we wish we were on the other side of this. We need to go back and regroup. We are definitely going to bounce back."

Dwight Lowery, Cornerback
(On the game)
"They took advantage of our mistakes. We had some mistakes out there. Some of the things that we did that if we had the right mindset going into the game, we could have done a better job on them overall. They just took advantage of the mistakes that we made. The advantages that they took ended up being big plays for them. We came into the game as two 9 and 2 teams and this game could have a big impact on who is going to win the division, so there is a lot of mixed emotions of how we feel after this. This in itself should provide motivation"

"We didn't prepare how we should have prepared, otherwise we would have put up a better performance"

Darrelle Revis, Cornerback(On how he feels after the loss)
"Very Embarrassed, very disappointed. That's all I have to say about it."

(On not having Jim Leonhard)
"Jim can't do anything for us now. He's out for the season. The only thing he can do is root for us and as of right now, we have to get it together with the guys we have and start making plays."

(On how the Patriots did exactly what the Jets expected them to do)
"I don't know. We made mistakes and you can't make mistakes on Tom Brady. That's just one thing you can't do. He's a great quarterback and you can't do it. When you do, he's going to find your mistake and exploit you."

LaDainian Tomlinson, Running Back
(On the loss)
"Clearly, we feel like we are still one of the best teams in the AFC. We know that they are and hopefully we will have another shot at them."

(On if he's concerned over play of Mark Sanchez)
"No. There's ups and downs in a season. We need him to keep on playing. We are not going to get down on him. We still believe in him and he'll turn it around."

Braylon Edwards, Wide Receiver
(On what the team takes away from the game)
"We'll watch the film and get past it. As bad as we played today, it only counts as one loss. They're now 10 and 2 and they control their destiny in our division, so hats off to them, but we'll see them again. We'll learn from this loss and get better."

(On how he explains the team's poor play in such a big game)
"I don't know. I don't know how to explain it. I don't play defense, I don't play special teams, and I don't coach. We didn't get it done. We didn't execute, we didn't do the things we practiced and we didn't do the things that made us 9 and 2. We didn't execute on offense and that's all I can speak for and that's what we need to get back to the drawing board on."

Damien Woody, Offensive Lineman(On the game)
This is definitely not the way we envisioned it, but it is what it is. You have got to give your opponent all the credit. They played a heck of a game and we played about as bad a game as we possibly could. Just all the way around. Defense, offense, we had turnovers, couldn't convert on third down. Turnovers in the red zone, you name it, we did it.

(On what Rex Ryan said to the team after the game)
Give credit to your opponent, they played a heck of a game. They were really precise. Remember this, put it in the memory banks but we have to move on to the next game with the Dolphins, that is pretty much it. Things don't stop because you take one on the chin like this so we have to get ready for the Dolphins next week.

Santonio Holmes, Wide Receiver
(On the loss)
We gave up 45 points and we scored 3 points. This is my first time playing them this year and from what I saw they did a hell of a job playing defense. I have no idea, they made plays.

(On the fans giving him a hard time as he left the field)
We play the game, they don't.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Tackle
(On the loss)
We just didn't execute in any phase. We didn't play our brand of football. They just out performed us today. Today wasn't our best day on execution. We understand every day is a fight and no game is guaranteed. We didn't come with enough to be victorious. We can't allow this to happen. We need to remember what happened today and respond accordingly.

Sione Pouha, Defensive Tackle
(On the loss)
They beat us. It shows for itself. We took ten days to prepare and had some solid practices but it doesn't matter what happens in practice. It matters what happened today. This humble pie tastes like a car tire and it goes down like peanut butter. That's how it feels. Sunday can't come soon enough.

Dustin Keller, Tight end
(On the performance)
"Obviously we couldn't have played much worse in all phases of the game. We came into this game saying our best game against their best game, but obviously they were a great team and by far they were the best team today. "

(On Danny Woodhead)
"After Dan left us and joined the Patriots you want to see him have a great game but obviously not against us. He played really well in the running game and the passing game."

Brad Smith, Wide Receiver
(On recovering after this game)
"Yeah we got beat, but in our minds we got to keep believing in ourselves and each other. That's the way it is, this is the game of football and that's why we have more than one game. So New England deserves all the credit, they played their butts off and we didn't, and we have to get better. "

(On getting ready for Miami)
"We know that opponent but we really have to do some soul searching and see what we're really about, what type of team we want to be. I think will be alright."

Eric Smith, Safety
(On the difference between this game and last)
"It's hard to say what the first game was, but they did pick up a lot of yards, they caught the ball and ran a long way this game. We were playing a lot of man coverage and when somebody would catch the ball you've got to make the tackle, and we just weren't doing that"

(On the loss)
"It's embarrassing, we take pride in our defense not letting teams score. To let a team score 45 on you it's embarrassing."

(On Jim Leonhard)
"I can't say that if he were here the game would be different, because New England did a good job executing. Basically they did everything they wanted to us."

(On Danny Woodhead)
"Right now I'm not happy for him, because he did that on us. In any other game if I were watching this at home, and I saw him run 100 yards I'd be happy for him, but not today."
