Tread carefully if you are not fully caught up on "Game of Thrones. This post contains spoilers for Season 8.
It's almost the end of an era. The series finale of HBO's "Game of Thrones" will air this Sunday, and it is dominating conversations everywhere, including the Patriots locker room.
During media availability on Thursday, the Patriots resident "Game of Thrones" expert, Maester Duron Harmon, of course, brought up the show and how it has taken over the locker room conversations. The final season has fans divided, especially with the events of the penultimate episode, "The Bells," last week, and not even buds Duron and Devin and Jason McCourty are exempt from that divisiveness.
"Devin and Jason, for whatever reason, they're the harshest critics this year," he said. "I understand this season is kind of rushed, and it's not as good, obviously, as some of the other seasons. I think out of five weeks, man, they came in bashing every episode except like two. And I'm like, 'Just relax, man. It's the last season. Just enjoy it. It's only 'Game of Thrones.' Just enjoy what we've got. Be happy and enjoy the show.'"
Seriously, stop here if you want to avoid spoilers.
George R.R. Martin published the first book in "A Song of Ice and Fire" in 1996, and though fans are still waiting for the final two books in the series, it hasn't stopped fans from theorizing how the story will conclude. Publications, podcasts and Reddit users have been sharing their theories for years, and Duron even offered up his own predictions for how the series is going to end.
"Honestly, I think Dany is going to die. I think Arya is going to kill Dany," he said. "I don't know if she's going to kill Grey Worm first and take his face and then kill Dany that way or what, but I think what Dany did [last episode], I don't think Jon is going to stand by her anymore. I don't think Arya is standing by her, especially with Sansa pushing her out."
As for who is sitting on the Iron Throne, Duron's pick is Sansa.
"She's the only person who really wants it," he said. Jon, I think he's going to go to the far North with the Wildlings and chill out and live the good life out there."
If you love Duron's "Game of Thrones" takes, you can catch his weekly recaps on both the Patriots and his own Twitter and Instagram accounts. He'll have one more after the finale next week.
