The Patriots came out of their bye week and took some time to shake off the rust. But once they did it was Sony Michel and the ground game that led the way to victory over the New York Jets.

ESPN.com says the performance is proof that Michel is the key to the Patriots offense.

By virtue of the Patriots win and Pittsburgh's loss in Denver, New England has jumped back into the No. 2 spot in the AFC.The Boston Globe was happy to see Rob Gronkowski back in the thick of the Patriots offense. They may not have picked up many style points but the Patriots will take the victory just the same. Here are some highs and lows from the victory.

The Providence Journal says Stephon Gilmore bounced back nicely in the win over the Jets. They also point to the work of pass rushers Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise as being key parts of the victory.

NBC Sports Boston didn't see things quite the same way, saying the defense gets merely passing grades for its work against the punchless Jets. While they may indeed be vulnerable, the Patriots are still a very dangerous team. That's especially true if the ground game continues to pound away at opponents like it did at the Meadowlands.

Finally, WEEI.com offers some quick thoughts on the Patriots key road victory over New York.
