Patriots News Blitz 5/21: Pats lock up all draft picks

All the Patriots news you need in one convenient place!

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston takes a closer look at undrafted rookie defensive lineman Bill Murray and explains why he could be the one to make it 17-straight years that an undrafted rookie has made the Patriots. It would appear there's certainly opportunity at his position to make some noise.

Zack Cox of NESN has his own undrafted rookie profile, this one for quarterback J'Mar Smith.

Interesting story out of Miami about how the Dolphins made the switch from Chad O'Shea to Chan Gailey, in what was an effort to simplify the offense.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic has a long look at rookie linebacker Cassh Maluia, who would seem to have an inside track on replacing Elandon Roberts' early-down role on defense.

Jim McBride of the Boston Globe gives his take on a busy day for the Patriots that saw them extend Patrick Chung for the fifth time since his return to the team in 2014, and sign Kyle Dugger, the last of their draft picks to be locked up. That means things are a go for the 2020 Patriots contract-wise, though there could still be some extensions coming to further open up cap space.

Greg Bedard lays out some potential issues that the Chung extension could bring, possibly with Joe Thuney and Stephon Gilmore.

Doug Kyed breaks down that Chung is no longer a "surprise cut" candidate and that this sign further points to the Patriots keeping their veteran defense intact to help them aim for another AFC East title.
