PATRIOTS RELEASE THREE; PLACE TWO OTHERS ON RESERVE LISTS
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots met the NFL's roster limit today by releasing linebacker O.J. Brigance, long snapper Ryan Benjamin and wide receiver Jimmy Farris. In addition, the team also placed safety Rob Kelly on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and running back Antwoine Womack on the reserve/non-football injury list with a knee injury. Following today's roster transactions, the Patriots have 68 active players on their roster, including three NFL Europe exemptions (center Patrick Downey, defensive end Radell Lockhart and linebacker Maugaula Tuitele). The league's rules dictate that all teams reduce their roster to 65 active players (not including NFL Europe roster exemptions) by Aug. 27.
