FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today the signing of second-round draft choice LB Brandon Spikes. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Spikes, a linebacker from Florida, was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 62nd selection overall.
Spikes, 6-2, 250 pounds, started 39 of 47 games at Florida and set a school record with four interceptions returned for a touchdown. He became the third linebacker in NCAA football since 1966 to finish his career with four interceptions returned for a touchdown. Spikes finished his collegiate career with 307 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 14 passes defensed and six interceptions.
