Patriots Sign RB Brandon Bolden; Re-Sign CB Jason McCourty

The New England Patriots announced that they have signed RB Brandon Bolden as unrestricted free from Miami and re-signed CB Jason McCourty.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have signed RB Brandon Bolden as unrestricted free from Miami and re-signed CB Jason McCourty. Terms of the contracts were not announced.

Bolden, 29, who re-joins the Patriots after one season with the Miami Dolphins, spent his first six NFL seasons with New England. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder originally entered the NFL with New England as a rookie free agent out of Mississippi on May 10, 2012. Bolden, a veteran of seven NFL seasons, has played in 99 NFL games with six starts and has 224 rushing attempts for 1,003 yards with eight touchdowns and 50 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns. In addition, he has 34 special teams tackles. Bolden has also played in 15 postseason games with two starts and has 12 rushing attempts for 46 yards with one touchdown and four receptions for 37 yards.

Last season with Miami, Bolden appeared in all 16 games as a reserve and totaled 91 yards rushing on eight attempts with two touchdowns and caught three passes for 13 yards and one touchdown.

McCourty, 31, is a veteran of 10 NFL seasons with Tennessee (2009-16), Cleveland (2017) and New England (2018). The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder joined New England in a trade with Cleveland on March 15, 2018. McCourty was originally drafted by Tennessee in the sixth round (203rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. He has played in 138 NFL games with 116 starts and has accumulated 626 tackles, one sack, 17 interceptions, 97 passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

Last season, McCourty played in all 16 regular-season games that with 12 starts and finished with 53 tackles, one interception, 10 passes defensed and one forced fumble. He also started all three playoff contests and posted 10 tackles and four passes defensed.
