FOXBORO, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced the free agent signing of veteran defensive tackle Riddick Parker. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Parker, 28, set a career-high with 48 tackles, while starting all 16 games for the Seattle Seahawks last season. He recorded a single-game career-high with nine tackles vs. Kansas City on Oct. 29, 2000. The 6-foot-3-inch, 275-pound defensive tackle has 76 career tackles (49 solos) in four seasons. He is also credited with three career sacks and two forced fumbles. Parker originally signed with the San Diego Chargers as a non-drafted rookie free agent in 1995. He signed with the Seahawks in 1996 and spent the season as a member of the team's practice squad. He saw limited playing time in his first three seasons on the Seahawks active roster, earning his first three starts in 1999 before becoming a full-time starter in 2000.
