Hey, fans. Welcome to the Thread of the Week. This week, there are 2 topics. Comment on any and all that you wish. Just remember to abide by normal BBS conduct rules.
* Please keep in mind, this thread will be seen by the players, coaches, and Patriot's staff members. Please keep your responses proper, thoughtful and specific. Crude remarks within a post will cause that post to be deleted.*
Response cutoff time will be: Kickoff Sunday
TOTW #1: Drew Bledsoe was injured this past Sunday, and may not be ready to go on Sunday. In that event, who should Belichick start at QB, and why?
TOTW #2: Robert Edwards suffered a serious injury two years ago, and has since been steadily working to make a return to the Pats. A recent article sounds very promising. What do you think of his situation, and his prospects of returning to the Pats?
So, there it is, fellow Patriot Fans. Let's have some good participation, and get ready for Cleveland this weekend.

TOTW #1: As I've posted before, this season is basically over for us. The time to develop the young'uns is here. Bishop should get some time in now to see if he has the toughness to rely on his arm instead of his legs. The only argument I can come up with against that is if we want to trade Freisz instead of cut him. The conventional wisdom being if he can throw 5 TD's against the Browns, somebody may give a 5th rounder to take his $2 million dollar hit against the cap next year.
TOTW #2: It's tough to come back after a one year layoff, never mind two. I'm no doctor but the type of injury he had, dislocated knee, sounds awful tough to rehab from. It gives me the willies thinking about it. And his style of running, which I loved, isn't very conducive to lasting health with that injury. Remember how he used to twist around and fall forward and land on his a$$ when he got wrapped up? I can see his foot still facing the goal line with his back facing the goal line too if he tries that move. I hope I'm wrong. He was really impressive. But the time that's passed and the type of injury sustained doesn't seem likely he'll return any where near his old form.

TOTW #1: If Drew can't play against the Browns, then it's time to start Bishop. Let him get a taste of real action, gain some experience and hopefully develop a little. That helps him and us if we let Friesz go next year and Bishop becomes the legitimate #2 QB. It doesn't hurt that other teams will get a look at him if we decide to go the trade route, either. That said, I think it was the right decision to start Friesz last week. I think he was our best chance for a mid-game replacement and would put Friesz in again in the same situation.
TOTW #2: I hope Robert Edwards makes a complete recovery, and I would love to see him play for us,but I don't think that will happen. It's just too bad of an injury.Hopefully he'll prove me wrong. It would make a great comeback story.

TOTW #1: If Bledsoe isn't ready for Sunday's game, then i would have to say that Bishop gets the starting job. He has the potential to make things happen but hasn't really had the chance to do much. And if he isn't getting things done we can always put in Friesz, who will be warmed up from last weeks game.
TOTW #2: I would love to see Edwards healthy and back in the game. He could be a real asset for us. With Redman steadily improving, having both of them would really speed up our running game.

TOTW #1: Start M. Bishop. Here are some reasons not yet mentioned. We must see if this kid has the capabilities to play against NFL competition. Sure, the Brownies don't have a Fin's caliber defense, but they have been pretty steady this season. If we, and the coaches, see he can play, we'll dump Friesz. Otherwise, shop Bishop and, or, Brady around because without a bonafide #2 QB like John Freisz is, the season will ultimately be lost. Personally, I think MB has a terrific arm and decent scrambling capabilities. Can he put them both together under duress, or will he always take off and run? With the way the Pats D has self-destructed in most games this year, he better be able to put that ball in the air in this league. Starting him will possibly showcase his potential. We need to see if we have a Farve or Young type of QB, or just another Stewert. Finally, Drew is, should be, the QB of this team for the next 7+ years, barring injury. IMO, Brady will emerge as his replacement, but the fans want Bishop. So, while Drew is out, start MB to showcase his talents and capabilities as our #2 next year, or as trade bait to another team. As stated in a previous reply, J. Friesz will be there to bail him out.
TOTW #2: Coming back from an injury like Edward's is mythological. Call him Hercules if he steps on the playing field again. Physically, I'm not sure he'd regain the momentum he accomplished at the end of 98. Mentally, could he run without thinking of another tear? Good luck to him.
Go to the Bulletin Board and ask away! So, there it is, fellow Patriot Fans. Let's have some good participation, and get ready for Indy this weekend.
