Touchdown sausages with cranberry-beer topping

Cranberries are a staple at any Thanksgiving dinner, which might be why this time of year was chosen to celebrate National Eat a Cranberry Day. Yes, it really exists and it's happening today, November 23. So don't wait until Thursday to get your fill of cranberries; use some today to give your tailgate party a seasonal makeover.

Ocean Spray, purveyor of all things cranberry, was kind enough to share one of their favorite game day recipes, which comes from New Englander Danielle D'Ambrosio. As the name suggestions, this snack is sure to score points with your crowd.

TOUCHDOWN SAUSAGES WITH CHUNKY CRANBERRY-BEER TOPPING

Ingredients
Makes 4 servings
2 cups raspberry beer
1 cup Ocean Spray® Cran•Raspberry® Raspberry Cranberry Juice Drink
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup Ocean Spray® Craisins® Original Dried Cranberries
4 hot Italian sausages
4 hot dog buns

Combine beer, juice drink, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and garlic powder in skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes or until sauce starts to reduce. Add dried cranberries. cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes or until cranberries are plumped. Simmer for 5 minutes longer or until sauce is reduced by half.

Preheat grill to medium heat. Grill sausages for 10 minutes or until cooked through and no longer pink inside. Place grilled sausages in buns. Top each evenly with cranberry mixture.
