The Patriots will host the Miami Dolphins at Foxboro Stadium this weekend in the 2000 season finale. The Patriots will try and close the season with a two-game winning streak and wins in four of their final six games.

Last week, the Patriots and Bills played in a winter wonderland at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Patriots won 13-10 in overtime, as both teams battled wind gusts of over 40 mph that blew rain, sleet and snow around the playing surface. Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe led his team 83 yards on 14-plays and kicker Adam Vinatieri nailed a 24-yard game-winning kick in overtime. Bledsoe completed two passes for 34 yards and scrambled for 14 more, on the game-winning drive, setting up the field goal.

Despite the inclement weather, the Patriots did not turn the ball over for the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season. With only one week remaining in the season, they have committed only 22 turnovers, compared to 32 at the same time last year.

Miami will travel to Foxboro this weekend, having lost their last two games by a combined total of only 10 points. It's the first time this season they have lost two games in a row. New England can play spoiler on Sunday, because if they beat the Dolphins and both the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets win, Miami will not make the playoffs.

It would be the second time they knocked Miami out of the playoffs in a season finale. In 1993, the Patriots defeated the Dolphins, 33-27 in overtime at Foxboro Stadium and forced them from the postseason. Patriots then-rookie quarterback Drew Bledsoe completed a 36-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Michael Timpson in overtime, which dropped the Dolphins to 9-7.

This will be the eighth time these two teams have met in the last game of the regular season and the Patriots have a 4-4 record. They have won the last two times on the last weekend in the regular season, in 1997 and 1993. The Patriots dropped the Dolphins 14-12 in Miami on Dec. 22, 1997 and gained home-field advantage in the playoff game the next week (the Patriots won 17-3).
