Patriots news and notes from Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots donned full pads for Thursday's outdoor practice session, and they got three players back in uniform.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski (ankle, back), right tackle Marcus Cannon (concussion), and defensive end Deatrich Wise (unknown) were not spotted on Wednesday, but took part in team stretching and at least the first drill period of practice, when media were allowed to observe the proceedings.

Rookie defensive back Duke Dawson (hamstring) made his second straight appearance at practice since being declared one of New England's two players on injured reserve who are eligible to return this season. He is not eligible to begin playing in a game again, however, for another two weeks.

New England continues to play it cautiously with rookie running back Sony Michel (knee) and cornerback Eric Rowe (groin), both of whom were not seen at the start of today's practice. Offensive lineman Brian Schwenke wasn't spotted, either, though the reason for his absence remains unclear as of mid-afternoon.

The Patriots must distribute their first injury report of the week today, as opposed to the normal Wednesday release, because they are playing on Monday night this week. We should have more clarity on all these players' circumstances once the injury report is unveiled.
