FOXBORO, Mass. - On Wednesday, December 19th, Shaw's Supermarkets and Kimberly-Clark Corporation representatives will present Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with the New England Patriots 12th Player Award. Brady, who has already received multiple individual awards during the season, can make room in his shopping cart for another.
The 12th Player Award, presented annually to the Patriots player who performs above fan expectations, is determined by fans who vote at Shaw's Supermarkets displays during the season and online at www.shaws.com. Last year's winner was linebacker Tedy Bruschi. The 12th Player Award has become a core component of the partnership between Kimberly-Clark, Shaw's Supermarkets and the New England Patriots.
Last week, Brady improved to 9-3 as a starter with a 12-9 overtime victory against the Buffalo Bills. He tied Babe Parilli for the best record in franchise history after 12 games and can become the first Patriot to win 10 of his first 13 games with a win over Miami this week. With two games remaining, Brady is also on pace to set a franchise single-season record with a 64.7 completion percentage (236-of-365 attempts). Only Kurt Warner (66.7 pct.) and Rich Gannon (66.5 pct.) have a higher completion percentage in the league this year. With 16 touchdown passes and just 10 interceptions, Brady also boasts an 88.1 passer rating, the third highest in the AFC.
Votes are gathered throughout the season at Shaw's Supermarkets and via online balloting. Customers who voted are eligible to win great prizes, including a grand prize that will provide a trip for two to attend the big game in New Orleans, courtesy of Kimberly-Clark. Other prizes included Patriots season tickets, autographed merchandise and Patriots jackets.
Wednesday's award presentation will take place at 11:15 a.m. in Super Box A at Foxboro Stadium. Representatives from Shaw's Supermarkets and Kimberly-Clark will present Brady with the 12th Player Award trophy.
