Jonathan Kraft

PRESIDENT OF THE KRAFT GROUP

Biography

Jonathan Kraft is the owner of the New England Patriots and President of the Kraft Group, a diversified holding company with businesses in sports and entertainment, paper and packaging, real estate development and investments across private equity, capital venture and hedge funds.

Kraft serves on multiple NFL owner committees including Business Ventures, Finance, Legalized Sports Betting and Media Owned and Operated. He also chairs the Fan Engagement and Major Events Committee and serves on the 32 Equity Committee.

Following the Kraft family's purchase of the Patriots in 1994, Kraft led the transformation and rebranding of the franchise, expanding its fan base and bringing long-term stability to the organization.

In an era when stadium names regularly change, Gillette Stadium has remained a constant in New England. The venue was intentionally designed with open spaces and the flexibility to evolve over time, becoming the region's premier sports and entertainment destination. One of the most significant contributions to the organization's sustained success over the past two decades was securing financial approval for the construction of the stadium. Kraft developed the creative private-financing strategy for its $325 million construction. Many industry observers questioned the viability of the plan, which relied on year-round club memberships rather than the more conventional sale of personal seat licenses. While considered a significant financial risk at the time, the strategy proved highly successful. In addition to the business and financial recognition the Kraft family received for the privately-financed project, Kraft and the stadium development team were also recognized for implementing innovative environmental practices during construction.

Kraft led the planning, construction and opening of Gillette Stadium and continues to drive its evolution with a focus on innovation and enhancing the fan experience. Under his leadership, the Kraft family has invested more than $550 million in stadium improvements, continually upgrading amenities, technology, hospitality spaces, concessions and fan gathering areas. Most recently, Gillette Stadium underwent a transformative $250 million renovation of its north end, featuring a redesigned and much more efficient entrance, the largest outdoor curved-radius videoboard of its kind, and a signature view 22-story lighthouse with a 360-degree observation deck, as well as significant enhancements to concessions, restrooms and other fan amenities.

Under Kraft's leadership, Gillette Stadium has hosted world-class events in New England for more than 25 years. The venue annually presents one of the region's most diverse schedules of sports and entertainment programming, including major concert tours, international soccer matches, the NHL Winter Classic, NCAA athletics, the Premier Lacrosse League, motorsports, the 2023 Army-Navy Game and seven World Cup matches in 2026.

Following the construction of Gillette Stadium, Kraft oversaw the Kraft Group's real estate development team's design and construction of Patriot Place, a mixed-use entertainment destination surrounding the stadium that features dining, hospitality, specialty retail, lodging, world-class health care, night life and entertainment offerings.

Prior to the Kraft family's ownership, the Patriots fan base was limited in scope and reach. Kraft was committed to expanding the team's audiences through innovative multimedia initiatives. Under his direction, the Patriots became the first professional sports team to launch a website in March 1995 and the first to provide nightly online video updates. In 2004, the organization further demonstrated its commitment to international growth by launching the NFL's first Chinese-language team website.

The Patriots have continued to expand globally through the NFL's Global Markets Program, earning Germany as an official home market in 2021, followed by Austria and Switzerland in 2023 and Brazil in 2024. These designations have created new opportunities for fan engagement, marketing, sponsorship development and business growth across international markets.

Building on years of developing in-house analytics capabilities to better understand customer behavior, Kraft co-founded Kraft Analytics Group (KAGR) in 2016. The company provides data management, advanced analytics and consulting services to sports and entertainment organizations worldwide.

In March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to overwhelm hospitals across the Northeast, the Kraft family responded to a request from former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker to help transport 1.8 million masks that had been secured in China. The New England Patriots team aircraft delivered the critical personal protective equipment to Boston for distribution to healthcare workers and frontline responders. During the pandemic, Gillette Stadium also served as the region's first and largest COVID-19 testing site for frontline workers and the first large-scale vaccination site in the Northeast.

A graduate of Williams College, Kraft is a Trustee Emeritus and a former Chair of the Williams College Investment Committee. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he currently serves on the Dean's Board of Advisors. Kraft joined the Massachusetts General Hospital Board of Trustees in 2010 and served as Chair from 2019 to 2025. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Mass General Brigham Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of TKO Group Holdings, Inc., the parent company of UFC and WWE.

He is also on the Board of Trustees for Belmont Hill School and Dexter Southfield. Additionally, Kraft is a member of the M.I.T. Provost's External Advisory Council and is on the advisory board for the Billie Jean King Foundation.
