Will Tom Brady play tomorrow night in preseason game number three against the Carolina Panthers? That is the burning question around Patriots Nation. Unfortunately, the question won't be answered until tomorrow around 7:30pm. If history tells us anything, it means that Tom Brady will play. For more than a decade, the quarterback has played in the preseason game. The real question is: after not seeing game action last week in Tennessee, how much will the 42-year-old quarterback play. Let's look back on the past ten years to see what the quarterback has done during the third preseason game.

2018 - Patriots at Carolina:

Tom Brady started the game. He completed 12 of 18 passes and threw for 102 yards. He played the entire first half before he was replaced by Brian Hoyer.

2017 - Patriots at Detroit:

Brady started the game and completed 12 of 15 passes for 174 yards. He was replaced by Jimmy Garappolo with 1:14 left in the first half.

2016 - Patriots at Carolina:

Jimmy Garappolo started the game. Brady came in with 1:56 left in the first quarter and finished the first half. Garappolo started the second half and was replaced by Jacoby Brissett who played the fourth quarter. Brady finished the night 3 of 9 for 76 yards.

2015 - Patriots at Carolina:

Brady started the game and played the entire first half. He went 7 of 13 for 84 yards. Garoppolo played the second half.

2014 - Patriots vs. Carolina:

Brady started the game but was replaced by Ryan Mallett with 5:33 left in the first quarter. Mallett finished the first quarter of the game and Brady came back in to play the remainder of the first half. Brady started the second half before he was replaced by Garoppolo with 1:26 left in the third quarter.

2013 - Patriots at Detroit:

Brady played the first half while Mallett played the second half. Brady completed 16 of 24 passes for 185 yards.

2012 - Patriots at Tampa:

Brady started the game and was replaced by Mallett at the start of the fourth quarter.  Brady went 13 of 20 for 127 yards.

2011 - Patriots at Detroit:

Brady started the game and was replaced by Brian Hoyer with 9:02 remaining in the third quarter. Mallett replaced Hoyer with 4:09 left in the game.

2010 - Patriots vs. Rams:

Brady started the game and was replaced by Hoyer with 12:30 left in the game. Brady went 18 of 22 for 273 yards.

2009 - Patriots at Redskins:

Brady played the first half and went 12 of 19 for 150 yards. He was replaced by Kevin O'Connell who played the entire second half.

It will be interesting to see how much the quarterback is used tomorrow night. Given the question marks at tight end and wide receiver, seeing those younger players who are vying for roster spots operate with Brady at quarterback would tell us a lot. If the last ten years tell us anything, it seems likely that Brady will play. How much? We will find out tomorrow night.
