FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced their 2025 season schedule tonight. Mike Vrabel will coach in his first regular season game as head coach of the Patriots on kickoff weekend when the Patriots host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 7 with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Patriots will play in three nationally-televised games in the regular season, including two of those games in the confines of Gillette Stadium. The Patriots will play at the Buffalo Bills in a Sunday Night football matchup on Oct. 5 and then host both of the New York teams in prime time. The Patriots will host the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football on Nov. 13 and the New York Giants on Monday Night Football on Dec. 1. In 2019, the Patriots played back-to-back games against both New York teams in nationally-televised games with a 35-14 win against the Giants at Gillette Stadium in a Thursday Night game (Oct. 10), followed by a 33-0 victory at the Jets on Monday Night Football (Oct. 21).
The Patriots' Sunday night game against the defending AFC East Champion Buffalo Bills will be the fifth time overall that the AFC East foes will meet in a Sunday night game and the first since the 2007 season when the Patriots won, 56-10, at Buffalo on Nov. 18. The Patriots are 4-0 against Buffalo in Sunday Night Football games.
The Patriots and Jets will meet on Thursday Night Football for the second straight season, and the Patriots will look to avenge last year's 24-3 loss at MetLife Stadium. It will be the seventh time the two teams have played on Thursday. The Patriots are 4-2 in those games.
The Patriots will return to Monday Night Football for the first time since the 2022 season when they host the Giants at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 1. It will be the Patriots' first Monday Night Football game since a 27-13 win at Arizona on Dec. 12, 2022. It will be the first Monday Night game at Gillette Stadium since a 33-14 loss against Chicago on Oct. 24, 2022. The game will mark the first time the Patriots and Giants will meet on Monday Night Football.
In addition to playing each of the other AFC East opponents twice, the Patriots will play one game against each of the AFC North and NFC South teams. Based on their finish in the AFC East, the Patriots will play the corresponding team in the AFC West (Las Vegas), AFC South (Tennessee) and NFC East (N.Y. Giants). The Patriots will play at Cincinnati and at Tennessee for the second straight season.
New England is set to square off against four 2024 playoff teams – Buffalo twice, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Tampa Bay. In addition, the Patriots will play five teams that had winning records in 2024 with Cincinnati finishing with a winning record despite not qualifying for the postseason.
Following the opening game against the Raiders, the Patriots will head straight into AFC East competition when they play at Miami on Sept. 14. The Patriots will return home for games against Pittsburgh on Sept. 21 and Carolina on Sept. 28, before embarking on a three-game road trip, the team's first three-game road trip since the 2020 season. The Patriots will play at Buffalo on Sunday night (Oct. 5), followed by games at New Orleans (Oct. 12) and at Tennessee (Oct. 19). Vrabel will return to Tennessee for the first time since his six-year stint as head coach of the Titans. Last year, the Patriots came up short in a 20-17 overtime loss to the Titans on Nov. 3 in Nashville.
Following the road trip, the Patriots return home for games against the Cleveland Browns (Oct. 26) and Atlanta Falcons (Nov. 2). After a road game at Tampa Bay (Nov. 9), the Patriots will play two nationally-televised games in a three-week period. The Patriots will host the Jets on Thursday Night Football (Nov. 13), then play at Cincinnati (Nov. 23), before hosting the Giants on Monday Night Football (Dec. 1).
Following the Bye Week on Dec. 7, the Patriots will host their second matchup against the Bills (Dec. 14) before heading back on the road to play games at Baltimore (Dec. 21) and at the Jets (Dec. 28), before closing the season at home against Miami. The date and time of that game will be determined later in the season. The Patriots and Dolphins will meet in the regular season-finale for the 18th time in team history and for the first since the 2021 season.
PRESEASON NOTES
New England also announced its 2025 preseason pairings tonight with the Patriots opening at home for the fifth straight year when they host the Washington Commanders, followed by road games at the Minnesota Vikings and at the New York Giants. The Giants game will be broadcast nationally on Prime Video, marking the second straight year the team will close the preseason in prime time. The Patriots closed out the 2024 preseason at Washington last year in a nationally-televised game. This year's preseason game against the Commanders will mark the 25th preseason game against Washington and will tie Philadelphia (25 preseason meetings) for the second-most frequent preseason opponent to the Giants. The Patriots and Giants will play in the preseason for the 32nd time. The two teams met in the preseason finale for 16 straight seasons (2005-19 and 2021), rotating who was the home team, and then in the first game of the season in 2022. The Patriots and Minnesota will meet in the preseason for the sixth time overall and it will be the Patriots first preseason game in Minnesota since 1987.
