Though none of the names would be considered household variety, the Patriots continued to add depth pieces to their roster on the second official day of free agency.

According to ESPN, New England has reached deals with former Broncos tight end Matt LaCosse and former Jets defensive lineman Mike Pennel.

The 6-6, 255-pound LaCosse is a veteran of three NFL seasons with the Giants and Broncos, starting five of the 15 games he played last season in Denver on the way to 24 catches for 250 yards and one touchdown. He originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Giants out of Illinois in 2015.

Reports have indicated that LaCosse signed a two-year deal with New England worth just less than $5 million where he joins a depth chart led by Rob Gronkowski and no other experienced options.

The 6-4, 333-pound Pennel entered the NFL in 2014 as an undrafted rookie out of Colorado State-Pueblo. In five seasons, three with the Packers and the last two years in New York, Pennel has totaled 69 games played with 15 starts. He played in 16 games in each of the last two seasons for the Jets, totaling 10 starts while tallying 62 tackles.

Elsewhere, NFL Network reports that the Patriots added another wide receiver to the undermanned mix in former Redskin Maurice Harris.

Harris is a 6-3, 200-pound veteran of three seasons in Washington, having originally joined that team as an undrafted free agent out of Cal in 2016. He's played in 28 NFL games, including a career-high 12 last season with seven starts. Harris caught 28 passes for 304 yards in 2018.

Harris is the cousin of Chargers star wide receiver Keenan Allen.
