F-15 Air National Guard flyover passes by Gillette Stadium

The planned training and media mission by the Air National Guard included five F-15 fighter jets flying over portions of eastern and southeastern Massachusetts on Thursday.

In case you noticed pedestrians on the side of the road staring up at the sky during your ride into work this morning - rest easy that it wasn't due to an alien invasion or the zombie apocalypse.

A group of F-15 fighter jets flew over portions of eastern Massachusetts on Thursday - including downtown Boston and Foxborough - as part of a planned training and media mission, according to Air National Guard officials.

Starting at about 8:10 a.m., the jets left Hanscom Air Force Base and began their trip from Salem to Cape Cod before heading back to their base in Westfield.

The training mission turned into a great photo opportunity at Gillette Stadium, with the jets flying at an unusually low altitude.
